w123 84 300D Dash and door removal

Help,

I am stuck trying to get the dash out. I've removed everything else from the interior - included the center console, but can't seem to get the dash to "release."

Secondly, how do you remove the 4 doors? The front doors have 4 bolts, removed those but it is still hung up on something.

I appreciate it - pictorial guides are preferred.

Morrison did a thread on cleaning the AC evaporator that included details (lots of pictures) of dash removal. Do a search. It may be in the DIY section. Did you remove the top center wood panel and get the two screws behind it that holds the dash?

Don't know about the doors. I assumed the bolts and the wiring channel were all that was required but I have not done that job.

Jeez I should start writing DIY articles on things Ive done quite a few times such as dash removal. Remind me to do one that hasnt been done yet since I might forget or get a little busy with school and work.

For the dash

The doors. The check strap should be unbolted form inside the door. Or just remove the pin on the door frame. and don't forget the wire harness. That means getting inside the door to disconnect the wiring.

I removed the check strap, perhaps it was just hung up on it since it's so old. I'll try again later when i have another set of hands.

Step 37 is where I lose you for removing the dash - is that required?

Step # 37 is not mandatory, but you don't want to crack them by stepping on them while lifting out the evap box. Prudent, if your removing the evap box. If not then don't remove the floor ducts.
Remember my post is for replacing the evaporator. Not replacing the dash. quite a few steps are not necessary if your just doing the dash.

The center of the 124 dash gets hung up on the defroster ducts. It needs a little upward pressure and the ductwork downward as you rotate the dash up and out.
