What's Up with all these non MB Diesel Threads?
 

Maybe the name of this forum needs to be changed to "Dieselshop.com"

I was following the Jetta thread, then this morning I noticed a Honda diesel thread and a 6.2 GM Diesel thread.

SOooo.... just a reminder, regardless of what the butt holes at Mercedes Benz think about the name Mercedesshop.com, this is still a discussion forum for MERCEDES BENZ AUTOMOBILES and even TRUCKS!

That's my $0.02, so call me an A$$ hole if you want.

Come to think about it, I am having issues with the engine in my old Diesel CJ5's Perkins. Anybody know how to set the injection timing on this bad boy?

When I have a question about something, these are the folks, mostly, that I want opinions from. That is why I get irritated when a wheel question gets moved to the vacant Tire and Wheel forum. [insert cricket chirping here]
Regardless of the bastardized name our website now enjoys, this forum has always been "Diesel Discussion", not "Mercedes Diesel Discussion". :D
However, can the opinion of somebody with a "Rogue T" obsession really be trusted......

Thanks for pointing me to the Honda/VW threads. Though it looks like I won't be replacing my 240D with one of those anytime soon as Honda has already scrapped plans to sell diesels here, and I don't care for timing belts. But they were interesting.

I see your point Larry, but LUVMBDiesels has a point. If I could post on another forum about another diesel non-MB vehicle and get the expert advice like I can here I would. The problem is I can't. This forum has the most knowledgeable people when it comes to diesels of any variety.

Obviously you have not driven other diesels in the world.

is there a question about a MB diesel engine on this thread? didn't see it.

LMAO!:D Just yanking your chain! But I did have one back in the day! Someone said it was a Mazda Diesel in it but I never knew for sure. 2.0L non turbo 5 speed. 41mpg around town and 50+ straight highway! I leased it and would of kept it but Ford Motor Credit wanted something like $8000 to buy it out and the book said it was worth $3800. Thing was a blast to drive but did not catch on i guess here in the states.

Funny but I saw a old Jeep CJ7-ish style lifted way up with huge mud tires on it yesterday. When he cranked it it sounded like a diesel. Thought i must be mistaken but sure enough when he romped on it a HUGE cloud of black smoke followed!

I see the good points from both sides of this arguement. However, this forum has been greatly helpful to me and many others when working on our old mercedes cars. If we turn this into a general diesel forum wont we be losing the great part about this forum? Honest information, great opinions, easy to find fixes for our Mercedes passions. As for me, I would rather not have to search through all the threads about "how to make my Cummins blow more black smoke" that some morons post on the truck forums. Why not keep the forum what it is meant for and PM those people that may have greater knowledge and ask them opinions on your other diesel products. Although i am guilty of participating in a TDI thread on here:o at least they are still german right?

I am always in favor of free flowing discussion between members with common interests regardless of brand names.

I agree, it is a "diesel discussion" board and personally I do like to read about some of the other oil burning alternatives. If you want to be really nitpicky then at least half of the mercedes posts aren't diesel related here, most have to do with brakes, transmissions, suspensions, seats, windows, sunroofs and precious few are strictly related to the compression-ignition cycle but I think most people who watch this board feel a more special kinship with the other diesel drivers and don't enforce the "strictly diesel" content which the posts here are supposed to pertain to.
