problem! nothing to do with a Lexus

Last week coming home my 81 Sd lost power ,was so bad that it would only pull its self in first gear the fuel gague showed about a third of a tank
I limped it home and next morning it started and I saw the clear small fuel filter was full of froth,I filled the tank and it ran fine again.Today(full tank) going to the post office it ran fine a few miles then lost power felt like the turbo wasn't working. On way back from post office it lost power and finally quit the battery light brake light and seat belt light came on and I coasted off the road sat a minute it restarted and ran fine the rest of the way home, any ideas?
