Keyless GO

The dealer lost my second key. They sent me another that works every way except for the keyless go part.
I have to put it in the key slot and turn it to start the engine.

Can I program the new key or does a dealer have to do this?

The REno dealer sent a PO to the EScondido dealer but they have refused to help me twice.

You will have to get a dealer to program it. This will involve having the dealer hooking your car up to a computer with the key in the slot for it to be programmed.

Well, did you ask the Reno dealer what's involved with getting it to work and to confirm it is something a dealer needs to program?

You might go to your local dealer and speak with the service manager directly to find out what the problem is. Of course you probably know what the problem is...they resent the fact that you bought a car from another dealer and now want them to help you fix it so they are sticking it to you a little...still you can probably smooth it over by not playing games and just speaking to someone in management. If that does not work or you don't want to do that then I would call MBUSA and explain that they need to get your local dealer's "wheels aligned" so to speak.

I'd ask someone higher up the food chain at teh Escondido dealer if its true they too much work to worry about taking on new customers.

While prob a SDS programming issue as DV suggested have you read the OM about sych keys and keyless go?

I called the Reno service manager and he sent a PO for $66.00 for the programming of the new key. Then I went in and talked to my original salesman. He will contact the service manager for me. He still considers me his contact for a new vehicle. And said that they should all be ready to go on Monday.
Thanks for the support!
My wife and kids love the car. In fact they took the new Bluetec to San Jose instead of the new Honda Hybrid. My problem is that it is so quick and quiet that it looks to be a ticket magnet. 0-100 is so fast I need to be cautious all the time.

PS: going to read the OM on Keyless go right now.

That is very true. In the 06 it seems like you're going a lot slower than you really are. You're cruising down the freeway and all of a sudden you're going 75. Passing on the freeway is nuts compared to my 300D...give it the boot and you're already at 80 and climbing
