1992 w124 300D bad transmission? Stuck in “neutral “
First to second shifts where always rough, then began to slip when engaged in forward or reverse from park. Now the car won’t move in any gear, stuck in neutral. Inspected b2 and b3 pistons, everything checks out. I think the trans pump might be out. Does anyone have a transmission for sale or know what might be causing this problem? Thanks for reading the post, im stumped…

There should be a place on your trans to plumb in a pressure gage and see if you have any line pressure. I don't know the location on your specific trans, maybe another member could provide that.
If you have no line pressure with the engine running (I am assuming you have checked the fluid level already) then you could have a failed front pump or sheared pump drive tabs on the torque converter hub. Another possibility is a broken flex plate or missing torque convertor bolts, but either should have warned you long before now with lots of noise, so I would think these probably not likely. Have you checked the filter? It could be clogged. Any diagnosis much beyond these things would call for disassembly of the trans, I would think. |

Last year I replaced my trans in my 90 300D W124 with one from Sun Valley transmission out of California. Really have been happy with it. Shipped it right to my house and changed it out in the driveway.
