I have had no luck popping the hood after the first latch broke on me. I unscrew the panel under the steering wheel and used pliers to grab the wire but it doesn't want to budge. I've tried grabbing the second latch and it lets me but doesn't do anything but pull. Aside from going to the dealer for a new latch is there any other way to pop the hood for the second latch. I gotta change my oil and filters. oh boy!!. 84 300D T

Try having someone push down on the hood while you pull on the wire.

that wire takes a HUGE amount of force to pull. you will need a good set of pliers, and some serious muscle to tug on the wire while squeezing the cable.
