Benz name for overflow valve?

Benz name for overflow valve?
What is the name for the overflow valve on the engine side of the IP?
Most diesels call it an overflow valve but I can't find anything using that search. Also what psi is it set to relieve at?

Cheers

In the 123 FSM in the index it is called an Overflow Valve; but when you go to that PDF it is called a Bypass Valve.
There could be some issues with translation from German to Eniglish concerning what it is called.

Thanks.

I can't seem to find anything on it. Mine appeared weak so I took it apart and stretched the spring but now I believe it is set to high...

What were your results after stretching the spring?

There is a long long thread by Cervan (cervan) on stretching the spring.

Also, Fast lane sells new Overflow Valves.

Would you have a link for that?

I had some bad fuel contaminate my system so I had to disassemble and clean everything including the injectors and fuel pump. I found that if the valve is set too high the system has a hard time purging air. As well, I assume you won't get enough fuel recirc for proper lubrication of the IP.

Sorry I do not have it as a month ago I managed to accidently erase all of my notes form a USB Drive.
It could Be in the DIY section.
Also in the Factor Service Manual it tells you you can stretc the spring to 27mm if I remember correctly (for 617 engines).

It could be more helpful if you said what type of problem you were having.

A new overflow valve from Fast Lane was around $28 + shipping.

to do the test for the Over Flow Valve; and for sure on the Fuel Supply/Lift Pump you need a liquid dampened Gauge or as one of the members did he made some sort of damper.

Personally I do not see how stretching a Spring will in the long run help. If a spring has collapsed some it is because it fatigued. You can stretch it but I would expect it to eventually return to the collapsed state.
