w210 Steering Rack question
Has anyone on this form had a problem with a Rack and Pinion on a W210.
I have a 1997 E300D with 103k on the clock. During my trany flush, I noticed I had a bit of a leak coming out of the area with the "black" circle. The steering is perfect, I just want to know if you can put a new seal in this area, without speeding 500-1500 on a new one. I would think someone one this form with a W210 has to have seen this. Thanks, Bill |

I do believe that there is a seal ring there. Check the EPC.

Local
indie shop in Scottsdale, AZ just told me a few minutes ago, that they do change these seals. They do both at the same time 175 parts and labor and the job is 1.5 hours.
From the look of it, you get a torq socket and spin them off?? If it's a simple job, I would rather just by the seal. After checking all the fourms, Am I the only lucky one here? The idie guy knew exactly what I was talking about and had the parts and labor number in his head! Bill |

Hello Matt,
Had to ask the wife what NLA was. Stumped about EPC. Exploded Parts Catalog? Do you have a link? On this web site, as all other, they list the 500$ Rack unit. The EPC would have the exploded view of the rack? With part numbers? The Ru web site, Alldata, and autohuaz, peach parts, ect, only have the complete rack or boots. Thanks, Bill |
