turning around rear axels on 83, 300D

did i read that a while back ? slightly worn CV joints on the outer end, just turn the axel end for end and they will be better ?

do they have the clip groove on each end of the assembly to hold it in the rear center housing ?

If the noise is already constant it is probably too late for this approach. If the noise only is present after a long period of time like 40 minutes on the highway try adding lubicant to the joints.

Then if they remain quiet changing the axles from side to side should extend their life expectancy big time. Also you can properly flush the joints and add the correct amount of lubricant during the changeover. . Are any boots leaking at present?
