engine and tranny swap 84 turbo into 81

Swapped a turbo engine and tranny into my 81 non-turbo 300CD; the engine shocks don't match up - at least on the passenger side - should I cut the bracket off the frame from the donor and bolt it (or have it welded) into my '81? the original setup for the '81 had a kind of "saddle" sitting just in front of the crossmember with engine shocks on it. Should I put that back in? (looks like it could be a tight fit but I haven't really checked that out). I can't remember how to attach the shifter linkage at the tranny and forgot to take a pic. I remember it came apart really easily - but it has me baffled now though even though I've read through some descriptions about linkage adjustment. They were text only and a picture would sure help. I moved over the the wiring harness for the kickdown, neutral safety switch and backup lights from the donor but the connectors inside the car don't match up -- I'll cut out the female connector from the donor, with a pigtail, and do some splicing - I'm sure I can figure this out but if anyone has already done this and has a hint or a pointer that would be appreciated. Any suggestions on the cruise control? the '81 has a vacuum canister on the wheel well; the new motor has a cruise control actuator mounted up toward the front of the motor. Would it be better to gut the old and move everything over from the donor - or to hook up the old system that came with the car to the new motor? Thanks. This forum has been an incredible resource. -- Ch

How have others dealt with the engine shocks when upgrading from non-turbo to turbo? it looks like the bracket on the frame of the car (which uses that saddle-looking contraption for the engine shocks) is way too close to the oil pan. I did figure out the tranny linkage - had duplicate part in the car (attached to the rod) and on the donor tranny (attached to the shift lever) - it all goes together much easier without the extra part involved! By the way my car is an '80 not an '81.
