Christmas in November!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TCCBass just stopped by my office on the way to a meeting North of here. He said he was bringing a surprise gift from sixto and turbodiesel.

I expected the gift to be Anthrax, or maybe a certificate proclaiming that LarryBible is the most cantankerous(sp?) poster on mercedesshop. Instead the gift was A DIGITAL CAMERA!

ARE THE PEOPLE ON MERCEDESSHOP GREAT OR WHAT?!?!?!?!

They had been upgrading their digital cameras, and between the two of them they gave me one of theirs to use.

I guess my whining and complaining about the company putting us on a pay cut has paid off!

I don't know how to begin to say thanks. Maybe it will be a start if I go home, wash the 240D and take some pictures as turbodiesel has been asking for.

mercedesshop people are the best,

I think you should take that diesel apart and take pictures of what you've been talking about so much about

Can't wait to see some pictures of your cars Larry.

With your knowledge, you might even document some of your routine maintenance with the camera and post it here for our viewing and learning pleasure!

Thumbs up Its lovely ...

Looking forward to your pics Larry. Isn't great that friends can be made over a virtual-medium?

Thats what makes this "place" so warm.

Yes, it is great to make such friends this way.

The timing on getting the camera is not perfect. The 240D is sitting up and has a layer of dust. I hope to get it back on the road soon. I took a few get me by pictures of it. But, I hope to clean it up and take some better pictures soon.

My 300E is dirty and very cluttered from hauling all the junk to and from the election on Tuesday. I hope to clean it up enough to take pictures soon. If the weather will cooperate, maybe this weekend. My daughter's car is not too dirty, but there's nothing unusual about it.

Anyway, within the next few weeks everyone will be thinking, "I wish Larry would get tired of taking pictures".

Thanks again,

Well I might've already posted pictures, but I couldn't make the serial port work on my wife's computer for the camera's download software. I wasn't too worried because I really wanted to put it on my laptop anyway. It has Windows2000, so when I started to load it this morning it let me know that it was not compatible.

I will put more effort toward setting up the bios in her computer and order the 2000 version of the software from HP later today.

Nothing is simple these days.

TxBill,

I don't usually drive the C, it's in my shop with the cover over it. I've been driving the 300D lately shaking it down. The 300E is too filthy to take it's picture. I think the camera will force me to clean up and fix up some cars around my place to make them more photogenic.

Have a great day,

Craig,

Since I work for a software company that currently develops products that run in a Windows NT/2000 environment, I won't comment on the Mac. I've had a PC or a UNIX box, or both, in front of me for eighteen years.

Thanks for the comment,

Ol' Silver

This is a test!

I managed to find a driver for the camera in Windows 2000 and then downloaded this rough picture. Remember this is a high mileage car that has been setting up for awhile, it's dirty and will get some TLC soon.

Hopefully this image will serve as a down payment. There will be many more to come.

Okay webgurus, will I have to have a web page to deposit these images in? I'm lost. Any help will be appreciated.

If this were run with some automation software, then I could fix it, that's my niche, or maybe I can trade an oil change or a valve adjustment for web help.

I was waiting for the pictures to start coming, now they are but I can't view it . Just get the picture box. Tried the old, view picture command and what I get is:

"Unknown Host
Description: Unable to locate the server named "c" --- the server does not have a DNS entry. Perhaps
there is a misspelling in the server name, or the server no longer exists. Double-check the name and
try again."

Might need to check the URL in your post Larry.

And when he does, it has the cover too. Funniest thing seeing the C tooling down the road with two large eye holes cut out at the windshield

Larry, just attach a photo to a new post. It'll upload the photo from your hard drive to Mercedesshop's server and you won't have to deal with finding your own webspace and making it work.

It'll only allow you to attach one photo per post, though.

Nathan,

I thought I had tried that. In the attachment field, do you just give the path and filename on your own hard drive? If so, then how do you know the complete URL to put into the Java Script, or do you have to do the Java Script if you attach?

Thanks,

Click the "Browse..." button down at the bottom where it says "Attach File:". This will let you choose a file from your hard drive and upload it to MercedesShop's server.

The "IMG" button on top is for linking to images that already exist somewhere on the web. This is useful in the event that you a) don't want to consume MercedesShop disk space and bandwidth; b) have more than one image to display in a single post; AND/OR c) already have your photo(s) posted on a web site/server somewhere.
