300SD (85), front passenger side, next to the climate fan blower. It has a small fan in it, it urns on as soon as the ignition is on.

Can't figure out what it is and what purpose it serves?

There's a cabin temp sensor by the dome light. This aspirator fan draws air over the sensor and through a tube down the A-pillar.
