window off track

hi everybody, i have an 82 300sd. just a few days ago, i got all the belts and the alternator replaced. i just got my liscense and was very eager to get it going-and yesterday i was out driving it, enjoying a nice breeze and i tried to roll my window back up when i realized it wasnt going up. the motor still works, but the window wont go more than halfway up. i am pretty certain that it is just off track and i know this is possible to fix at home. im 16 and have never really had that much experience fixing cars, and i dont have the money to take it to a shop again right now....can anybody give me any advice on repairing an off track window? it is the front seat passenger side that wont roll more than halfway up. the rear passenger side window is also off track, but since it is rolled all the way up it was never a problem. i want to get on this soon in case it rains!

also, i got a new radio for the car but i am not sure how to put it in. i wasnt able to figure out how to get behind the middle panel of the dashboard to get the old one out. any advice would be appreciated....
thanks!

Congratulations on your new car!

My advice would be to take your time and learn how to work on these cars yourself. Otherwise it's going to get expensive FAST!
The good news is they are very easy to work on.
Your going to at least remove the door panel to see what's going on in there.
Check through these tutorials:
http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/DoItYourSelf

You will find info on how to remove the door panel and a lot of other things. There are usually only minor differences between models.

A Haynes manual is pretty good for easy stuff like removing door panels and doing regular maintenance.

Do a search for "Sliding Jaw" and "Regulator" to fix your window.

If you have any specific questions, let us know.

Danny
