Need Frt Pads for my 300D

Which of these brake pad brands are best for quality and lower brake dust? Are any of them Chinese?

And finally, isn't Textar OE?

Pagid
Jurid
TRW
Textar
NPN
Minitex

Thanks!!

I use textar exclusively.

Best bang for the buck, low to moderate dust, and most importantly no squeaks

just did my rears the other day....

What do you guys think about Mintex? They cost about half the price of Textar.

I use whatever brake pads come in the box. I've changed lots and lots of them and it's never seemed to make any difference.

I just put a set of Jurids on my 300e in the front with the sensors. I had some 18.00 pads from Autozone on the front some kid put on that I bought the car from. It was like trying to stop an 18 wheeler!!! Now, it is easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!!! Berry nice $46.00 through Parts Geek. No squeaking either!

Whatever I got off ebay was a POS....Squeaked ALL the time. I bought a set of Textar because it was driving me NUTS and it has not had a squeak since. More dust though I admit.
I think it may have been Pagid...

for a 124 pagid is what you will get from the MB dealer. they have no squeak issues but they make a lot of dust. ceramic are probably the least dust-making pads. they cost more and i've heard they take a few stops to work 100%, but i have never driven our 124 with ceramic pads so i don't know this for a fact.

Mintex are very cheap, but it's for a reason. If you do a lot of heavy braking, they overheat very quickly and start to crumble. They might be OK for the street, but here's my experience with them:

One weekend at the track (with my 911) my track pads (Hawk DTC-60) were just about shot, so I popped in some cheapo Mintex street pads I had lying around, just to get me through the last 30 minute session of the day. Less than 5 minutes into the session, I had to pit because I would push the brake pedal and NOTHING would happen!! Car just wouldn't slow down. In the pits, I got out, and saw SMOKE coming from all four brake calipers! Pulled into the paddock and removed the pads - they were all completely cooked and friction material was crumbling apart. I've used "Metal Masters" and other assorted street pads on the track for short periods of time and never had this happen before, so I think "you get what you pay for" with those cheap Mintex street pads.

After that, I now only buy Pagid or Textar for my street cars.

I ended up buying Metal Masters for all four wheels. Plus new hoses.

I used the "Buy Parts" link above (helps support the forum) and bought a set of Akebono ceramics from Phil. My wheels have never been this clean. I'm happy.

The Mintex also push the limits on thickness....they are almost too thick to install, and if the calipers are not perfect, might cause a piston to bind.

Autozone sells USA made pads under the Duralast name for $19....they are quite good. I've also used the PBR Ceramics (on W126) and Mintex on the W124 with no issues.

Hey do yourselves a favor. Call Phil for your pads. Always a good recommendation and the price is right.

Apart from Metal Masters, I have had good experience with Ferodo sold here by Federal Mogul. http://www.ferodo.co.uk/ferodo_home/

Nobody has mentioned EBC. semi ceramic. suppose to be for street racers who want quick heat dissipation. I need to clean my front wheels off about every 2 days. not being anal at all. they are pretty pricy around 35 bucks. I cant get one to stop squeaking. would never buy again
