Oil leak on oil filter canister

I have a what appears to be a seapage leak on fitting of the hose that runs to the oil cooler. Is there a crush washer or an o-ring inside that fitting?

The leak looks like it is on the threaded portion of the fitting. It is on the upper connection.

Yes, I did clean the engine. The oil cooler lines are fine, no cracks, not mushy either.

Thanks!

No.

If you try tightening the fitting, make sure to loosen the associated clamps first.

Also, Thanks for serving our country! Past, Present and Future do not hear that enough, in my opinion.

Just a heads up. I had a slight leak on that same fitting on my former 77 300d. I tried to loosen the fitting so I could put some teflon tape or something on the threads to stop it. I was unable to loosen the fitting despite applying generous amounts of force to the fitting. I decided that it was better to live with the slight leak rather than crack the oil filter housing in an attempt to remove the fitting.

I tried to use a 12" spanner wrench, and that thing is very tight. I wonder if the aluminum housing threads have siezed with the steel fitting.

The nut threads onto a steel nipple.

The origional Nipples on mine are Aluminum.
And, when I backed off my Oil Cooler Line nut a piece of the Oil Cooler thread got stuck in the Nut and proceeded to cut up the last three thrads on my Oil Cooler Nipple.
I did not feel anything as my 1-1/16 combinatin wrench gave me a lot of leverage.

The Oil Cooler repair Nipples are steel. But you have to cut off the old Nipple; drill and tap a hole for the Steel Repair Nipples.

If this thread was about the oil cooler, you would have a great point.

In fact, the nipples used to repair oil coolers are the very same ones installed in the filter housing at the factory.

Mine was leaking at the filter end of the nipple, not the hose end.
