pls help my 300sd crank over but not running

Hi, ya'll please help me here I am a newbie here. I have a 300SD 1982. I have brought the injector to a shop they checked it out and still work. But no fuel coming out of the injector at all. I bled the injection pump by turn the nozzle by 1/4 turn so the air are all out Yes there diesel coming out on the top of the injector. But appear to me that the injection pump doesn't give enough fuel pressure to open up the injector. I spray mist of starting fluid on the top of the air cleaner with rag covered then it will run but nothing coming out at the injector. Please help me I love to see my MB running. I bought it the way it was which is not running. By the way I did try to use vaccumn to suck some kind of valve in the back of the injection pump to see it help the injection pump but it doesn't. Do yall think I have a bad injection pump. Please give me some thoughts God bless all of yall. Thank you

Releasing the vacuum on the shut off valve on the back of the injection pump increases the fuel (not increasing the vacuum). Is your lift pump delivering adequate amounts of fuel to the IP? Do you have an updated primer pump or the older style that tend to leak in air?

pls help 300sd not running

Thank you for the help. I think I have the older prime pump with the wheel on it. I have no clue if it does have enough volume of the fluid coming out. How would I go about checking it out , what is the method of measurement of the dripping from the injection pump. And the vaccumn that you preferring to I tried that. I used the brake bleeding tool to create suction so I can pull that lever manually to allow fuel flow through but it still not running. And thanks for the help

do not use starting fluid,wd40 works fine to spray in.Check to see if you are getting good fuel flow from tank(clogged screen). Then check their are no leaks at lift pump.I lossen main fuel filter a little to make sure no air in filter. Then lossen banjo fitting at filter headed down to I.P. as your are pumping hand pump. Then when no bubbles tighten, then try and start.

I was trying to explain that pulling that lever stops fuel from flowing. In it's natural relaxed position, fuel flows.

You haven't mentioned anything about glow plugs yet. Have you checked the resistance on all 5 glow plugs? If a few are out it may not start.

You may want to check the compression. I think it is best done warm for accurate readings but a cold check should tell you if something is wrong.

pls help my 300sd not running

Thanks all, Okay today I asked my wife started the engine I have realize the was pressure coming out of the valve in the back of the ip. What does that mean anyone? No I have not check out the Glow plugs and compression yet. I assumed if it fire up with the starting fluid whenever I put some mist on it and there little diesel coming out of the injection pump that why I didn't check the compression. I love the car and need every bit of the help I can get thanks for all the help. There are fuel at the top of the injector but not willing to cooperative at the bottom of the injector.
