HELP! I think I broke my ALDA

So I was looking at my ALDA and noticed that the plastic cap had been removed. I thought it had probably been adjusted once so i though what was the harm in trying again. So i moved it 1/2 turn Clockwise and drove it, it felt much better, then I moved it 3/4 Counter Clock Wise to see what that would do. When i was tightening back the Nut not the screw i heard a click noise like i put it back on too tight, then all hell broke loose. My car is extremely sluggish until the turbo kicks in at around 3000 rpm. Any advice on what to do or a lead on a new ALDA would be greatly appreciated. I drive an 1985 300D Turbo.

Thanks

-Dan

i did the same thing, or at least something similar. the symptoms are the same. if the screw is broken, that's it, your ALDA is toast. you should post a WTB ad in the Parts forum. there are a few great car parters on here, some of them are currently parting out cars. try looking for someone parting out a turbo 300D and asking if the ALDA is available. they screw right on/off. i got a replacement for mine here and it's been great.

I wouldn't mind removing it, any tips on how and what does that do to the MPG, also ive herd you need a boost gauge, witch i dont have.

Once again any info appreciated.

Are ALDAs created equal, or, are there specific versions for the 602, 603 etc.?

Well , i went to play with the ALDA one last time before i bought a new one, and i got it working!

Here's what i did, i completely removed the nut that holds the screw in place, then i loosened the screw up then turned it CCW until it got tight. After that i went for a drive and what a difference. It was so quick that i moved it an half turn back CW. The only logical reason i can come up with is that when i moved that nut too tight it somehow clamped off the ALDA and once removed it let the thing function again.

Thanks for the advice and i hope this helps someone with the same problem.

I believe you should adjust out until you get black smoke under full throttle, and then back in just a little bit.
