There are many posts on both of these faults, you need to search the forum a little and if you don't find the answers, ask. At this point we just waste space posting the same responses over and over again:

hmmmm...they worked before...just enter the term P0100 or P0243 into the "search this forum" tab then.

Clean the MAF with CRC MAF spary first.

Code PO 243 is the vacuum transducer that controls the wastegate.

First make sure the "vent" is open and clean. Is next to the interior firewall of the computer box. Is orange paper encased in plastic cone "screen" with a vacuum line attached leading under the rad overfow and air filter box to the transducer.

The EGR transducer is identical. Swap them and see if it resolves the issue. Requires no tools and takes 5 minutes. If so the tranducer is bad.

Waste gate trans is under the air filter box/MAF. EGR trans is next to the ABS on the opposite side. Both have elect connections and vacuum lines attached.

Thumbs up 1st Check hoses see if 3 hoses to each transducer are connected...

Our 99 E300TD sedan threw a P 0243 code. Initially wondering if it was a bad transducer, dirty transducer filter element problem, or a waste gate problem.

Checked transducer connections and found the "Out" hose on driver's inner fender transducer was disconnected. Reconnected it after swapping transducers (5 minutes no tools). Cleared code test drove vehicle no further P 0243 codes.

Unplugging the Maf should see it run on default settings.

The po243 waste gate code is most likely come up because the Maf going bad then will see the ecu cut boost/limp mode scenario.

Concentrate on curing the Maf problem and the waste gate code should clear when Maf is sorted out.

Maf sensors usually need to be replaced,a dealer can substitute a known good one but do not let them con you into replacing any waste gate parts or anything turbo related unless a code re appears for the waste gate once Maf is sorted

I just did a Google search looking through the Uk/Usa forums and came across this interesting read which describes the code as wiring related, have a read and then do a search on the forum and see what other info you can dig up.

I have twice now had my 98 E300D throw a code while under heavy acceleration but not WOT.. 1st time was about a month ago and didn't lose boost or see any other symptoms so I cleared the code on the fly and waited to see if it happened again... This afternoon it threw the code again while under heavy acceleration...
Is this the typical failure mode for the turbo transducer?? It is similar to the failure indications I had before the MAF quit ie: intermittent codes and then failure...

Hate to throw money at the car every time a code pops up...

Good thing about this is that you can swap the EGR transducer for the turbo transducer and see if the problem migrates to the EGR side.
