A/C seized, blowin smoke, shaking, stinkin!
Hey guys,
My a/c compresser I believe has quit. I went to use the defrost and of course it uses the a/c too. Well it put a horrible squeal, made the engine shake and carry on. I looked under the hood once I got to work. Turned it on again and was making horrible noises while emmitting smoke. I do not and will not have money to spend on this for awhile. I will need heat on my windshield for winter time. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Should I take the a/c belt of for now too? If so how does one do that? Thank-you

Yes, just take of the AC belt for now. If it was smoking, you might as well just cut it off because it's ruined anyway.

Before I cut it?
How do you loosen up the a/c belt? I want to know how to take it off and when time, know how to put a new on.

You have to loosen the three 17 mm bolts, then turn the 10 mm adjuster nut CCW to loosen it. You will also have to remove the PS belt inorder to remove the compressor belt, IIRC.
You are better off just cuttingthe A/C belt for now.
