Lazy shifting

Help
today my tranny started shifting slow on the 2-3 upshift. it's almost like it's slipping. better cold than when hot. just change the filter and oil. 95 300E with 134k. are there and external or internal adjustment that will help or is my tranny dying a slow death?

Check with an MB tech somewhere about what tranny fluid to use -- I know the spec is Mercon III, but some brands may give you bad shifts.

I assume you used a reputable brand of fluid and an OEM filter.

I know my guy has had trouble with excessively hard shifts on BMWs after changing fluid -- BMW has a tranny treatment oil that fixed it.

Otherwise, I'd say check the vaccuum line from the manifold to tranny (if the 95 still has vaccuum modulation!) for a clog -- high vac all the time will make the 2-3 shift early and sloppy.

Used Amsoil synthetic for the change. Had the problem before the change and it's about the same. I just got the car and haven't found a manual yet, but I think it has a vacuum modulator. I have to assume it's on the drivers side like my 240. I have a new modulator still in the box. I hope it's the same one. I'm going to stop at the benz dealer tomorrow the guy there is pretty good and he will help if he can.

Just read on alldata.com under tech bullitens and they say vacuum modulator not adjusted correctly. But iI believe you have a better theory.

i will check it out in the next day or two .

thanks for your reply
