Vacuum Line Plugged. Why?

Bought the car a few months back. Still getting the hang of its systems. Why has this been plugged? What is it for. The rear hatch lock (wagon) does not operate by the vacuum system, but the lines are plugged at the lock site. So I don't think its that. Anyone have an idea?

I do not have an 85 so I am not sure. There are some Vacuum Diagrams on this forum.

If it looks like the 4 way connector has been replace it could simply be that the PO installed an 4 way instead of a 3 way to suite his own purposes.

I have an '85 sedan. It looks like there's supposed to be a three-way connector there. Someone may have had only a four-way and used the bolt to plug the unused leg.

As 911 said, there are vacuum diagrams for your car in this forum. They are probably in one of the DIY sections. Make sure you use the diagram for the federal or California version (assuming you know what that means, of course).

If the trunk vacuum lock lines are plugged, it probably means that the vacuum actuator leaks and the PO plugged off the lines so he didn't have a vacuum leak in the system. The actuator can be replaced and it may even be rebuildable. This forum has scads of 123 vacuum system info, do a search for "123 vacuum."

i have also plugged this tube on my car, because there is a vacuum leak in my cabin, and it was preventing my car from shutting down. in order to isolate the leak and let the car turn off when i turned off the ignition, i put a plug in it.

edit: course jeremy just said that like, 8 hours ago
