Agreed, I see three on mine.

I kept thinking about this thread so today I actually pulled the doors and retaining clip to see. Yes, my yellow fog lights are sealed beam units. Made by Bosch and came with the car new.

The headache part, I would think, is the vacuum adjustment part on the UK models. I have dealt only with Federal units.
This is the correct information and the most logical and effective way to accomplish this task. Many pieces of the car could be removed to finally get to these lights but it is an ignorant way to go about it.
Too bad the misinformation on the forum seems to be on the rise lately......

some people are too afraid to come out and challenge someone directly. instead they need to quote other people and throw in some key words like 'ignorant' and 'misinformation', which are an indirect attack against other people.

this would be called 'cowardice'

My point that I looked to confirm was my fogs are sealed beam vs having a replaceable H3 bulb. Pretty obvious when I pulled it out and looked at the back. 10 minute job to replace.

What, exactly, did the back look like? What type of connector was present?

Is there a part number present? I am unable to find any reference to a sealed beam lamp having been used on a NA W123.

It is so advantageous and interesting sometimes to have folks who have had their cars from new. It really can add interesting minutia to some of our topics.
I'm with Tango, I'd also like to see a pic of your fogs. Just the kind of Mercedes dork anomaly that many of us find so interesting......

To be fair, that info from the Haynes is also in the FSM, but the next page is in the pic.
The other two are from the epc.
I note every fog light has a bulb vs sealed beam, but anythings possible.
In the second pic, the U.S. models have #8 and #26 assembly. Other countries have #5, a one piece unit.
That sealed beam fog would be a rare item.

Two of my W123s came with amber sealed beams (Bosch) for fogs. They now have E-code Cebie high beams with amber lenses in their place and new fogs under the bumper where they should have been. I rewired it so the new fogs work with the stock fog switch.

I don't know if the sealed beams came stock since I bought both cars used.

My '82 used the replaceable H-3 bulb, and the amber lens assembly was Bosch. I now use Bosch Euros, that use the same H-3 bulb. I now have yellow H-3's in there.
