Is cruise amp same for 87 300D as SDL ?

Anyone know? Same engine, same actuator (I think). Wonder if amp is same too.

Try looking them up in EPC, see if the same part numbers come up for both.

EPC is not Russian, it is the Mercedes Electronics Parts Catalog. Free subscription to anyone in USA at http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/welcome.jsp.

The aluminum box (the part that goes bad) is the same, but there is a plug-in black cube on the end that configures the box (I suppose gain and so-forth), which is specific to the car and engine.

They might be the same configuration between the two but I'm betting that they are not as the 126 would take more pedal for the same amount of acceleration.

OK thanks for EPC tip, I logged in and can see p/n different for the amp. For 124 it lists 5 different ones, for 87 SDL it lists only 1 and says NLA.

Also shows location of cruise amp different in SDL than what Im used to.

Which leads to next question - where is best place to get W126 manual ?

I see one here - http://www.mercedesmanuals.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=W126

Ive also heard of buying from MB but I was at dealer today and the parts guy had no clue.

for the w124, there are at least three different styles of cruise amp: the 14 pin with no coding relay of which there are at least a couple part numbers; 14 pin with coding relay (again different part numbers); and updated style for models from 92-95

on the w126, unless it was manual transmission, they were all the 14-pin style--which are compatible with ones from 190e 2.3, or the w124, for example. the number of pins is what counts, not the part number (unless it was manual trans)--many part numbers of cruise amp all superceded each other

The '90 & '91 SDL has the coding-plug style, I don't know about the early ones.

OK I will pull it from both and see, they should both have 14 pins and no coding but I will verify.

Thanks for all help!

i was under the impression the coding relay was only for models with the m103 engine: 380 or 300 for the w126 chassis
