Intermittant glow light flash BEFORE crank
In the last 3 days, the 240D has started giving me a flashing GP indicator before I engage the starter.
If I turn the key back to off and back on a few times, it (so far) has eventually gone through a normal cycle and started. GP's were changed about 10 months ago and work great when the cycle is successful. I seem to remember reading a post that indicated that flashing before the crank was a different problem than the more common flash after crank (which is an open plug). But in reading quite a few threads, I am finding more info on flashing after crank, or no light at all. What does a flash before crank mean, and how should I best diagnose it since it is an inconsistent problem?

Not sure, but you may want to visually inspect the glow plugs, or at least put an ohm meter on 'em.

2nd on checking th Glow Plugs. Even if they were put in 10 months ago the could still be having a problem.
