I thought I would post this.......since I thought I saw something posted a while back about the 3rd brake light working intermitantly for someone.

I had the 3rd brake light working intermitantly for a while but did not have a chance to fully chase down the problem. I did change out the bulb a couple of times and tested the wires from the housing to the bulb carrier but still had the problem,

I finally took the time to pull (it unlocks and slides out from the rear window) the whole black housing unit out which revealed the corroded contacts below the unit. One metal tab had such a bad contact with the metal base plate that it burned through. I was able to clean and repair the bad metal tab with some good silver solder and rebend it for better contact. I also cleaned the corrosion off the conductive metal base plates. It works great now!

I guess years of frost and humidity just caused the problem......but it was a simple fix.

Thanks for the info, I need to do that. Replaced teh bulb but still works intermittantly. Figured it was a loose ground or something.
