How to re-time injection pump.

Due to having a catastrophic failure on my 83 300sd, I want to make sure my injection pump is still timed correctly with crank and cam.
Wanted to know how to do it? Cant seem to find much.
Thanks

The answer would depend on whether the IP was removed and reinstalled into the vehicle prior to the check.

It would also be beneficial to determine if this IP as the 17mm port on the side (down near the bottom of the IP, just aft of #6). A photo of this area would allow a quick confirmation.........or not.

Should give a few details of the failure. For example if the timing chain let go at speed or whatever. Helps to indicate how to suggest checking better. For example is the pump on the right cycle?

Since it is a 1983 I imagine you do not have the timing port to use the appropiate tool in.

What happened was the vac pump broke and a piece of it got stuck in the chain breaking thr camshaft in 3 pieces. Timing chain never broke, but it did take out all the rails and slides.
I have rebuilt just about everything and need to make sure the pump is set right before going any farther.

If the chain was never off the sprockets, you either perform a drip test or you use the A/B lights if the IP has the port. Since it's an '83, the chance of the port is probably slim...........but, as mentioned, a photo would confirm.
