That brings to mind a funny story. Once I did an oil change on a CUCV (military Chevy pickup) and forgot to lube the seal on the filter. This turned out to be a major problem, since the supply guy had given me a defective filter with no seal on it. I didn't even notice, so I dutifully replaced the old filter with the new, added about two gallons of oil, started the truck up, and was puzzled when the oil pressure came up and back down. I shut off the engine and discovered approximately two gallons of oil on the floor. That was fun to clean up.
