So my 84 300d needs a new transmission and I have come across a 1985 trany out of the 300td wagon. Will the 85 work in the 84. Does any one know what kind of problems may arise in this procedure. If you do, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Same chassis, both turbo, should be no problem.

You could call a salvage yard and ask them to look in the hollander interchange book for you.
