Long term vehicle storage preperation

I am leaving the United States in january for up to 2-yrs.. The 300SD.. will have to stay behind. I will leave her in Florida. Who can give me info as to storage preperation.. Storage will be outside(no garage) There will not be anyone here that can drive the car periodically. Note: when I got the car..it had sat for 3 yrs...All I did was put a battery in.. and the car started right up.

There are lots of things you could do like put it on blocks, remove the battery, add a biocide etc. When I stored my 307d in a farmer's barn in the south of England for a year at a time. I would turn off the key, shut the door and walk away. When I returned I charged the battery, fired it up and drove away.

Block sunlight as much as possible to the interior, park where it will get some shade if possible. Parking on dirt is supposed to be better for tires, pavement better for everything else. Good oil, full fuel with biocide, good ATF, good coolant. Disconnect the battery negative if possible.

If possible, I would look into storing it in a sheltered, climate controlled environment if it's going to be stored for such a length of time.

If no one is going to occasionally drive it for 2 years, I would add motor oil to the cylinders to keep the rings loose. Remove all the glow plugs, squirt motor oil into each of the cylinders and reinstall the glow plugs. Of course, don't start it after you do it.... (Except after two years ) This will keep the rings happy especially in a non-climate controlled environment.

... and fill the transmission with ATF until it drools out of the vent, (drain again before driving) to keep the seals wet, ... but it sounds like some of this isn't practical as he's parking it outside not in a nice tool-laden garage.

You can't find any sheltered place to park it for 2 years? Where do you plan to store it?

I dont think after two years of sitting outside in Florida, "matilda" will be the same when you come back.

Plug any holes which might look attractive to rodents with something not chewable.

That's the way I interpreted that statement as well.
