What is this?

I am painting my 300TDT and there is a "plug" in each door jamb up next to the handle. So I pull it out to sand under and it is holding a plug for something electrical? Anyone know what this could be?

That is the wire from the key-lock, it's where you un-plug it to remove the lock.

OK but it is not plugged in anything on one end, it looks like something should plug into it.

One end of that wire goes back into the door, the other end goes to the door handle itself. The plastic bit holds the plug there for easy access.
