Rear defrost problem--300SD

Hi everyone,
The rear defrost seems to be divided into three main sections
on my 84 300SD and only the top and bottom sections are working.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff

I don't think there's a fix, mine only works at the top. That is a laminated windscreen with the wires in the middle of the sandwich, no way, I know of, to get to them.

Good point, that would be where water is wicking up through the glass layers, mine is.

This is what causes the lower corners to become cloudy?

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Yep, it's water wicking between the layers, and only a worry as far as being able to use the defroster goes.

Replacement with a factory window is expensive, but still available as far as I've heard. (I'm personally eyeing the one on my parts car which appears to be still in good shape...)

X2, I would try and get one off of a junked w126, windshields ain't cheap, especially the nice MB laminated ones. Just make sure the one you get isn't cloudy and delaminated too!
