O-ring & plug, new coolant expansion tank question

Well, I decided to get a new expansion tank, as mine was the original. And, I've got the plug kit to plug the sensor hole. Now I'm having trouble getting the plug with the o-ring down far enough to add the c-clip. I found the thread on this, but it only talks about getting the c-clip into place, not the plug and o-ring down far enough to add the clip. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Good advice, lube the hell out of it people. Also, I hope for your benefit, your tank is made so that your plug arms sit down far enough to set the c-clip evenly and easily into its groove.
