External Fuse holder... how many wires?
I went in to put in an external fuse holder to try and solve my melted fuse for the blower motor... and there was one already hooked up. Well, atttempted at least. The #8 fuse was disconnected, and the fuse holder had one red wire coming in on one side, and three more wrapped together coming in on the other side. The PO connected it with tape, which was melted and bad connections. I reconnected it the way he had it, still no blower. I was suprised when I saw the three wires coming in.... what is this supposed to look like?

Make sure your fuse holder contacts are clean to reduce the resistance and heat build up and use a ceramic bullet fuse. I kept melting the plastic bodied fuses till I switched.

Are you looking underneath where the wires screw into the fuse block or did someone try to attach them to the top where the fuse is held? It will not be unusual for there to be one wire going to one side of the fuse (the line side, coming from the battery) and one or more coming from the load side (going to the blower and whatever else is on that circuit). Your external fuse holder will have two wires and will just "bridge" the gap of the bullet fuse you will no longer use (one wire to the line side and one to the load side). Crimp on spade or one-hole connectors and screw them tightly underneath the screws under the fuse block. It was kind of a mess on my 85 300SD. I had to remove some wires to get to the blower circuit but no more melted fuses (I used a 30 amp fuse and fuse holder from Napa but the dealer item would be more "pure" if you don't mind spending the money)

I'm looking under the dash. I was assuming it would only be one wire, I will open teh other side of the dash and see if I can find the wire coming frmo teh blower, I'm not sure how to find teh wire coming from the battery though. Cripe it is a mess of wires in there, but I have 4 open ended ones so hoepfully that narrows it down .

Not sure about your model, but my fuse block is under the hood. Fusing behind the dash might be a pain to get to if you have to swap out the fuse.

No it's under the hood, but I can't pull the block out the hole to get to it from that side. Mes gots to go roundabouts.
