API CF, Is It Enough For An Older Mercedes?
I’m new to diesels. My 93 MB 602 engine requires a CF rated oil. I have been using CJ rated products just because I thought that’s what I needed.
I find a whole new range of products to choose from when I look for the CF rating only. My question is this, will a CF rated oil be just as protective, lubricate just as well, and provide as long an engine life as the CJ’s I have been using? Thanks.

CF is better than CJ. CJ lacks many anti-war additives because they damage modern NOx cats.

Not true, just because zddp is lowered doesn't mean that aw, ep, and fm adds arent there as other chemistries.
Older engine designs don't burn as cleanly, and modern diesel-spec oils have better detergency and dispercancy. Unless the engines use flat tappet cams, there is no compelling need for huge amounts of zddp, particularly considering how well current oils control wear and perform.
