Question How do I do this?

Hey everyone

Well I need to replace the alternator bracket bushing on my 220 and was going to do it when I was fixing the wiring on the alternator but I'm faced with a problem I don't know how to go about repairing.

I got the first bolt off the bracket with no problems but when I try to take the second bolt off to remove the bracket the center to which the bold is screwed onto (I don't know what it's called) spins with the bolt and I can't take it off. I was able to make do with a quick fix for the so cal gtg by putting a piece of coolant hose where the bushing goes and tightening it but my generator light is now coming on again because the belt keeps coming loose...

How do I get this bolt off?

Sounds like a bushing or collar (don't really know as I don't have a 220) is frozen/stuck on the bolt, is that right? If so use some penatrating oil and judicial force of a hammer to break it free . . . or could you grap on to it with needle nose vise grips . . . and then turn the bolt?

Sounds like its rusted together. Penetrating oil might help. Can you get a wrench on both sides? If not, you could try drilling/cutting and replacing the bolt. Assuming there's room for that...sounds like you need to find a replacement bolt and nut anyway.
