Pardon the potentially stupid question but I'm considering the purchase of a 1975 240D that needs glowplugs amongst other things. I have a spare set for my 1984 300D, could I use these in the 240D?

I did this conversion on my 75 240D -- you need to change the controller, the glow coil, and the wiring, as it is a fairly different system. However, it does convert over well without much work. One source of the kit is mercessource dot com. As you need all the other parts in the kit, anyway, I don't know if there is much value negotiating a partial kit in order to re-use the old plugs from your W123. Cheers, Andrew Seidel.

No. In the pics below is the Glow Plug that came with the Engine; next is your 84 300D glow plug; last is the special updated Glow Plug (before you install these read up on how to do it as you will get rid of some of the wiring that came with the origionals, they are not a direct swap).
