Question Does a 1982 300SD have a VSS? Cruise question.....

I am working on installing aftermarket cruise on my 300sd (audiovox ccs-100) and was wondering if the stock speedo sensor feed can be used to give signal to the audiovox unit? I'd rather not have to add the magnet/sensor under the car....

Anyone know if this is possible?

That should work fine.

Has anyone done it successfully? Is the signal the right type for the cruise unit to be able to read it?

Awesome, does anyone know the pulse rate of the MB sensor? Or what I should set the audiovox unit to?

When I documented my installation in the above post, I was unable to get the stock vss signal to work. The sensor on the driveshaft is not a big deal... It took me longer to put the front of the car up on the jackstands than it took me to install the magnet and sensor.

I know its not difficult to install....but I'd rather not have that weight attached to the perfectly balanced drive shaft....it might just add un-needed wear to the components or make it vibrate.....I'll do it if I have to....but if I can get a signal from the existing sensor I'd readily take that instead.
