Quick fix for side trim clips.
Painted yeh olde wagon last week and was replacing side door moldings without new clips. The trim has the male end were the door has the hole for the clip placement .I made a run to the auto parts place with trim in hand .First walk thru for clips on the help isle was a no go .Decided I would try a new approach ,had them find hose that would sleeve onto the trim clip end snugg then give that a go.They cut 4 ft of vacuum hose which was more than enough for the job ,cut each piece about 1/2 inch long ,then snugged it on the prong of each clip .Then lined up each clip to its side assembly hole. The clips slip along the trim so you will need to line them up before tapping them in.With a rubber malet litely taping the trim into place.Cost $3. with left over hose ,Im sure Ill be checking ever so often for losseness but sure made for a quick fix.

Good solution. You can also use the little plastic dry/screw fasteners for hanging stuff. They come in different sizes and expand just like the real little red MB buttons. Thanks

Could you post a picture? I'm not clear how you did this. On my 1985 300td, I have two lower/(door) moldings off with the white rectanguler plastic clips still in place in the holes in the door. I can't find a way to snap the molding trim back on. Any suggestions? Thanks, Joseph |

That was the upper then trim we were talking about. Wont work for the bottom trim. If the square clips are on the car. Place the trim along the top of the clip' allow it to hang down and pop the bottom in with your hand of a rubber hammer. Thanks
