Nokia Hak1 or 2 with studs on all 4 wheels.

I run 4 wheel studded snows on both the 116 and the 85TD in the winter. I've used standard chains on the TD in the past with no problem.

Get Thule chains from Vulcan Tire for your SD

I have Nokian WR's on my 14" original rims. A great year round tire in terrain when you can encounter snow 8 months out of 12 at altitude.

I got a set of Thule chains from Vulcan Tire - a US based outfit. With them on, the SD is a veritable tank and can handle 18"+ of fresh unpacked snow without an issue. With the chains properly snugged down - and that's essential - I've been up to about 50 mph without a problem.

I use cables on the SDL with its 205-65-15 and they're fine up to ~40 mph. I also use the bungie tensioners.

I got a set of Yokohama Ice Guard IG20's put on my spare bundts today, I'm not putting them on the car yet, as even the longest forecast doesn't have any snow in it yet. (Thankfully!) The less snow we get the better. The coldest its supposed to get here in the next 10-11 days is 33F at night, and a high of 49 or higher during all of the days. I might be able to go into December without mounting the snows...that'd be awesome! :D

Now I probably jinxed it, and around Thanksgiving we'll have continuous blizzards...

What size did you end up getting?

Just the normal 195 70 14.....they did not have them in 205 size....oh well.

They have a soft aggressive tread....looks like they'll be excellent in the snow!

I have used them a couple times going over hwy 80 to Reno. a real snap to install, about a minute per side. and off you go.

They are a little pricy new. but at least I don`t have to crawl under the car to install cables or chains, have icy water dripping on me, or having the rooster tail from a big rig front tires drown me with slush.

They do take up more room in the trunk compared to chains or cables.
there is a down side to everything.

Yes I bought 2 sets on Craig'slist last year. They don't seem to work quite as well as the cables, but they sure go off and on fast. My wife can even put them on and take them off. :D
