Question Brand of replacement windshield seal for W123?

About 2 years ago I got the rear window seal replaced. This place is the body shop for a Benz dealer, so they do a good job. But I did pay $150 for the seal from the dealer.
Now I need a new windshield seal. They are willing to do the windshield with a seal I provide. But I want to use a good product. I go to the Fastlane store on this page and they offer one for $80, but don't mention a brand. ***********************, which I've used for other things, offers a "APA/URO Parts Windshield Seal" for $58.

I want to buy a good seal, but would prefer not to pay double for the same thing. How do I know which one to use? Or should I just play it safe and pay $150?

Any idea what you put in 2 years ago?
Report back if you can find out.
It would seem that brand was not good.

3 years ago I replaced the windshield & rear window seals on my W123 with seals from performance products ($60 & $50 respectively). I believe they are Meyle. I wouldn't use Meyle for everything. ie: sunroof seals, speedo cables, etc, but these seals have worked very well.

The general consensus is to procure the OE part...........unless you want to do it again in 5-10 years.

I ordered a Meyle a few months ago. Never put it in. Been to busy fixing other stuff.

I talked to a few people at a GTG a few months back. They used the Meyle and had no issues. Everyone said to do it when it is hot outside and leave the seal out in the sun for a while before you start the job.

Pay the extra and get the OE seal from Ma Benz. Not only will it last longer and seal better but it is much easier for the professional to install and they will tend to do a better job replacing it.
The OE seal has 4 distinct corners while the after market seals tend to have 2 corners at the bottom but just one long piece in between that curves around the top edges. Problem is they don't like to "curve" around the 2 corners at the top.
Safelite told me they would never again try and install an after market seal. {that is what I had installed on my white wagon. Not a very good job at all, although it does seal.}

In my experience you need a seal from Mercedes for the front, but an after market will work for the back.

You will never regret using the MB seal, the originals last probably 20 or more years on average! Also apply the MB factory gray sealant and you should never have a leak.

The one put in 2 years ago was in the rear. It's fine. I now need one for the front.

OK, I will tell them to use the seal from the dealer.

When a glass place replaced my windshield this summer, they ordered the seal from MB dealer. i think it was around $123. They had an easy time with it.

Windshield seal

I had the front windshield seal replaced in my W116 two weeks ago. The glass man used a seal from the dealer. It was around $127.00. I asked him the specific question you're asking because I have read so many posts on this topic. He told me the OE seal works better because the channel for the trim is actually formed much better. The trim tends to pop out of the aftermarket seals while trying to install it.

My car has had water in the floorboard after a good rain for quite some time. After having it replaced, we had a hard rain yesterday, but the floor is nice and dry! It's worth the money for the OE seal IMHO.
