I am so stupid (left doom light on).

This is the 2nd time I've left the dome light on. I turned it on so I could pull stuff out with the door closed. I am SO dumb.

I discovered it on this morning when I made a run to get coffee. The car started up ok and the clock hadn't lost a beat.

I'll be driving for 5 and a half hours tomorrow. Should the battery be ok?

I'm not going to use that button anymore. :p

Edit: Dome not Doom

It was probably recharged when you got back form your "coffee run", it will certainly be up after your 5 hour drive. Out put from Alternator varies based on battery's level of charge.

If it started up fine, I think you're in good shape. These big batteries are pretty hardy. Last month I left my headlights on when I went into a restaurant, 4 hours later my car started normally and I've had no subsequent issues.

You're fine. These cars are also equipped with small parking lights which are intended to stay on all night. While they are a little smaller in wattage than the dome light the small drain on that big battery did no harm.

I once left the dome on in my 87 not only overnight but for half the day after ... it started fine and didn't give me any trouble.

I didn't realize there was a doom light. Is it like a blue screen of death? I picture it something like a check engine light only with a skull and crossbones.

LOL. Sometimes I imagine such a light will come on in my 240D, only it's just an orange square that says "GIVE UP" in it. Just right in there on the instrument cluster with the rest of the lights.

A low oil pressure alarm could be considered a doom light

I've left my VHF radio on all night a few times in my 124 and the battery was fine. Two years ago when I lived on campus I left one of the map lights on in my Subaru for two days, might actually have been three. Started right up, in the middle of winter no less. Really surprised me considering the battery in it is tiny compared to the battery in the 124.

I think the dome light is 5W, or 10W at most.

Standing lamps are 5W each and the cars were designed to have these standing lights on when necessary so it should be fine.

Just keep an eye on the clear plastic, that's what tends to go wrong in the dome light.
