300SD for 617 swap to 240D-What to keep?

I have a 1981 300SD for the engine for my 240D 4-speed combo. What will I need from the 300SD? Unfortunately, I can't have it around for the swap, it needs to be gone by december.

-Engine (obviously)
-radiator+expansion tank
-differential
-instrument cluster w/ speedo cable
-glowplug relay
-can I use front springs+shocks?

anything else??

SD speedo is electronic, it won't work. Get a 300d speedo.

Save the tach setup; amplifier, crank sensor, tach itself.

Glow plug relay should be okay, they're all five cylinder capable, but you'll need the proper plug to energize all five gp's.
Oil pressure sending units are different.
Probably can use the shocks.

You won't use one connector in the main wiring harness for the glowplugs. The w126 300SD uses an electronic oil pressure sensor, the w123 uses a mechanical line that goes to the back of the instrument cluster.

The 240 already has a mechanical driven spedo off the 4-spd trans. so that won`t change.
the SD has an electrical spedo, and a totaly different housing, that won`t fit into the 240.

The SD should have the 3:07 Diff. you will want to install that. then find a spedo out of a 123 with the 3:07 Diff.

Iam not sure if the whole oil filter housing needs to be changed for the mechanical oil pressure line. or if just the plate on the housing need to be changed. SD has the oil sending unit screwed in the plate, and the 123 has the oil line that screws in pointing up.

keep all the wire harness`s from the SD for the engine, will save you some head aches.

The 240 front springs should work ok. will give you a softer ride though. the 300 springs will make it nose high, and make it steer strange.
keep the 240 springs, and then replace the front sway bar with one from a TD. 2mm thicker.

Part out as much as you can, regulators. window motors, wiper motor, blower motor, trunk vac pump, sunvisors and clips, etc.... you can sell stuff and recoupe some of your costs.

someone will think of something else.............
