Spin-on fuel filter on '72 220D?
It appears that I've had a later spin-on fuel filter upgrade done on Umlaut. It came with a Car Quest filter, and I replaced it with another Car Quest filter just because I had the numbers readily available.
I'm sure there are many opinions on the best fuel filter to use, so what should I be using? It also had a Car Quest oil filter installed in it, and it appeared to be rather high quality pleated material. Any idea who makes these? No markings other than "Car Quest" printed on the side. Edit: This is interesting; apparently WIX is the supplier for the Carquest filters. http://www.wixfilters.com/news/article.asp?NewsID=1353&Section=6

The WIX Fuel Filter for the Housing in the pic is a 10 Nominal Micron Filter. All the makes that fit it seem to have the same Micron Rating and so far as I know they all work.
I have read no information on this forum cincerning what is a better Oil filter for your year an model. You can plug in a Filter number and get the WIX number here. WIX often gives the Micron rating for their filters. http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/index.asp Champion Labs is another company that makes a lot of Oil Filters for other companies.

That spin on filter is not factory, but thats OK those filters are much easier to get.
Originally the W115's came with a canister type fuel filter and you replaced the filter unit.
