Injection Failure
'07 ML 320 CDI. Experienced a failure in the fuel injection system at 40,000 miles. Repaired by local Mercedes dealer but I am not sure exactly what repair work was done. Now 2,000 miles later just experienced the same problem. Does anyone have suggestions on what I should ask or request of the service department? Something is wrong beyond the original repair to have failed again in only 2,000 miles. Thanks.

Ask for a copy of the prior work order so you know what work was done....

Have you been running any biodiesel, if so what blends? I believe the newer common rail diesels are much more tempremental about the fuel viscosity.

My understanding is that the Common Rail System has much finer filtration than the older models. This could also mean that the Filters plug up easier.
I would try changing the filter/s first.

With one post
and a vague "failure in the injection system" I won't hold out for a detailed story...BUT DDBISHO if you are still following this thread,
Please be more specific about what failed the first time and what failed now. I was surprised to learn there are fewer parts in the CDIs than in the indirect or direct/element systems. I did the classroom course on them but very little beyond that. Also, did you EVER put in any vegetable oil/SVO/WVO or biodiesel?
