After Market Plastic
Is there a source for the plastic pieces that cover the hinge between the seat and the seat back. Mine were very brittle and fell apart when trying to remove for seat rebuild.
Thanks

Very unlikely. Dealer or junkyard your only choice. Dealer may no longer have them, may not have all colors, will be expensive. Junkyard parts will be inexpensive but as brittle as yours are. Either way, if you can get them in the wrong color, do so and use SEM spray paint to match your interior color.

The dealer did have those pieces for the W-126 in black.
You'll need to paint them, but nothing beats the new plastic. |

............I suppose you could call them on the telephone........but getting a person with a brain that works in the parts department is going to be a challenge.

Find a third-grader with a device known as a cell phone. They will understand the procedure perfectly!!! If you can't find a third-grader, just look for any woman driving a SUV. Last edited by tangofox007; 11-24-2009 at 09:10 PM. |

I got the idea from Brian that he new a specific dealer that stocked those parts. On inquiring at the MB dealer here I was informed the parts were in Germany and would cost $248.00 for a plastic trim set for one seat. Good thing I was sitting down!

Hinge covers
Call Fastlane Phil on this site. They are called "hinge covers" and come in chrome plastic. Got them here for my 107. Hell of a lot cheaper than the dealer.
They probably stock them for your car. |

I seriously doubt that any dealer stocks the parts. IIRC, I bought the specific piece that you mentioned for about $20. It wasn't all that expensive. Takes about two weeks.

Aftermarket plastic can be expensive. In this situation you could duct tape and zip tie your old plastic back together, but that's ugly and won't hold. You could buy used stock plastic on the Internet, but who really wants used goods? You can buy new stock replacement plastic, but that's expensive and you're getting the same exact look you already had.
