616 vacuum pump

Does the vacuum pump (piston type) go on with sealant or just a dry gasket?

Just went through this the other week. Found recommendations FOR and AGAINST.

I ended up putting Hylomar on. Very thin coat. Dabbed on...wiped off any excess with my finger.

Here's another topic for you to stoke the fire
Put light coat of antisieze on the pump housing bolts and adjust torque rating as necessary.

This summer I put a piston pump (not correct for my car) on my 240D with no goo and an old gasket. It leaked a little. When I repaired my diaphragm pump, I put it back on with some rtv. So far, so good.

Use just enough to hold the gasket in place on the pump side.

I just used a paper gasket on my vac pump when I swapped it out a few months back.
