WOW!

I sure do appreciate my 240D!

I just got done washing my wifes Volvo S60 AWD, and decided to take it for a drive to "dry it off", we are gonna be putting it up for sale soon, and I wanted to make sure everything was working right, and since I had not driven it since I got my 240D back in July . . .I figured the turbo needed a work out . . . :D

I got out to the state hwy, and it was up to temp, so I floored it! All five cylinders seem to be working overtime! I let pull to 120mph (It was still pulling STRONG!) and then just coasted for a bit, then turned around . . . I sure am getting old, my heart is still racing and it has been 15 min since I pulled into the drive!

I am very happy with my 240D, I don't care what ANYBODY says about it being slow or under powered! I sure must be getting old!

That S60 is the only car I have driven that I never found out how fast it goes . . . driven a 928S back when I was younger . . . SL380, SL450 too . . .

Yes, delusion is a wonderful character trait to possess when you're a 240D owner............;)

I'm serious, I'd rather drive my 82 240D any day than my wifes 02 S60 AWD! We drove my 240D to Taos, NM 2 weekends ago with 500 Bibles 525 mi one-way, and snow up there . . . I'm glad the S60 was at home! (It's not a bad car . . . I just prefer my 240D!)

Excellent choices

If you are traveling that far in a 240D, Bibles are an excellent thing to have in the car. . .

When my 300D was in the shop, I drove my 240D from CO to CA a few times, keep it at 65-70 mph and it does fine.

If I want to go fast, I'll take my bike.

What was it with 5 cylinder that you got up to 120 mph?
The 240D or the Volvo?

I had a buddy do similar. Had a sweet Volvo. Super nice, low miles and only 3 years old or so. Found a 79 300D in a field, 134,000 miles on it I got it running for him (it was parked running, just neglected for 13 years) and he went crazy. fixed it up fixed all little items etc etc. Sold the Volvo. Now he also has a mint.. i mean MINT.... 84 300D

Drove a friend's 240D automatic a few years ago. Everything you did was a strategic event to remain safe. On-ramps, merges, left turns, etc. were models of planning and execution. Passing was right out:D. He then moved on to a W124 300E and promptly was at the point of losing his license for speeding violations. That being said, If the right one came up locally I'd grab it.

I know what you mean! I drove my sister's 2007 Infiniti G35 the other day after getting out of the 300D. The same amount of pressure you put on the accelerator pedal on the 300D will take you MUCH faster in the G35. I learned that lesson the first time after I took off in the G35 and ended up getting out from the back seat.;)
