Personal Question: where do you hang your block heather cord?

When I first bought my car, I was convinced that the block heater plug should jut out the front of the car; then I decided to let it hang down below the car. Then, after crawling around on sub-zero days and then stashing it up in the engine compartment before driving, I decided to let it hang right under the hood, out the front.

That said, I'm sure that's not the factory solution. The cord has taken a slight beating from being slammed by the hood on cold mornings - now I sacrifice my extension cord to get slammed, instead of the block heater cord.

So, where does yours hang?

I have mine tucked under the rubber trim above the bumper, below the right headlight. It has a little slack so I can pull it out a few inches.

Mine hangs down below the license plate holder, but we don't have to worry about slush/snow "messing it up"!

Mine is hidden down inside the tow-hook cover....I hardly ever use it, as my car starts just fine down to -10F or so....I usually try to plug it in if the temp outside is below 20F....but sometimes I am unable to.

So, coming down from the block, then up under the front bumper, and up on top of the bumper? I didn't think there was enough room to get the plug from the underside/rear of the bumper to have it being on the top of the bumper.

I'd recommend replacing the cord then, as the sheath likely is very damaged somewhere causing a direct short. The cord was messed up like that on one of my dad's cars too....

Same here, at least as far as the tow hook cover. Mine would benefit from being plugged in but the school lot has no electricity so I'm out of luck if it won't start. I'm playing with the idea of one of those little camping generators that runs on propane or something stored in the trunk someday just in case.

But anyway... my cord just loops around and through the towing hook behind the little plastic door.

Crawl underneath the passenger side and look up. If there is one it would be a round black cap. unscrew the cap and the electrical conector is right there. You would need to get a powercord for it. About 50 dollars.
At least that is where mine was, 86 sdl

I believe all 603's left the factory with a block heater installed, but no cord attached to it. It is located on the passenger side of the engine. If you have no cord in there....you'd have to get one and plug it into the heater.

No lamp posts, planter beds or buildings with outdoor outlets on them nearby? My school had a few places where I could get close enough to sap power. I did it a few times....when it was ultra cold out.
