My SL belonged to my grandmother since new, she gave it to me in 2002 with 111k. 127k on it currently.

Here is a photo of her taking delivery in Houston back in '85,

This is me in the summer of 2003.

Ol' Turbo has been around since September 11, 2007.

This is the only photo I have from picking it up that weekend and visiting friends in the Denver area.

Here is a photo from Ol' Turbo in 1987. Got it from the original owners from '85-'01

Been with me reliably for 9 years: my blue 300SDL, that is. 350 I've known for 9 years: a somewhat pricier term. The other grey 300SDL = 2 - 3 years. Silver 300SE (hey it's a W126) been in the fam for 9 bloomin' years.

The most active runners now are the blue 300SDL and the 300SE. Others are being worked on/stored.

Hi
I got my first 300d (December 1980 build) in February !982. Its a parts car now. It did 800,000 miles before retirement and was still going well when it was put in the shed for the last time.

Was given a 1968 230 auto in 1999 as a parts car, full of rust, it had been in a major crash early in its life & not repaired very well. Its still down behind the shed.

My second 300d (November 1984 build) came in 2005, it has now done 400,000 miles. Previous owner overheated it & now it has breathing issues and high oil consumption. I intend to open up the motor & see if rings will fix it.

Last month I got a 1987 w124 250td. It is a privately imported car, rough in the body, many small things not working properly, but mechanically very sound (I hope).

Got my 83 300D (dispatch date December 22, 1982) in January 19, 2004 with 138,038 miles on the odometer. Now it has 210k miles (probably less due to 3.69 rear end being installed from 138,038 miles to 205,205, after that it was back to 3.07, but more on that later).

My grandparents bought it new in 1983 (Feb 14) and owned it til the day I got it.

I think my signature is almost self explanatory. The first column lists the month\year I acquired the cars. Well....not quite. I know that 240 4speed was acquired when is was cold.....because it got snowed on once.

My father bought my 1987 300D in April of 1987. I still have the dealer tag and a copy of the order sheet for it. I was 5, but I remember when he got it. Later it was one of the cars I learned to drive on. He gave it to me in 2003 and I've put a little over 70,000 on it to bring it to 262,000+. Knock on wood, it's still a very reliable daily driver and the interior looks awesome thanks to some major efforts on my part.

I will have had my 240D for a year on Jan. 5. Been a long, long year ... made a lot of progress, but boy do we have a long way to go.

The pics you have of your SL are so cool. I really wish I could find a picture from when my dad first got my 300D. My family wasn't really the type to commemorate that ... although I remember my dad being so proud of the car. He didn't (and still doesn't) usually splurge like that, on anything.

Sadly, no diesels.

I bought my '86 300E in January of '89, a CPO coming off a three year lease. Now at 225K miles, it has been my hope to own the nicest 25 year old 300E in town. I'll make it to 25. Nice? That's subjective.

1987 300 SDL

I bought my SDL new in Aug. 1987. When I bought it, I told my father that I bought my retirement car. I retired 3 years ago. Why buy a MB if you don't plan to keep it? My newest MB is now 9 years old. THe SDL looks like new from 10 yards away (except for the wheels). The ML looks like new from 1 yard away. If you don't have a garage, forget it.
