My first Diesel was a 220D 72, bought that car with 99K miles, kept it for 4 years and sold it for exactly what I paid.

My current Diesel is 240D 77, all manual, bought this car 27 years ago with 69K miles, it now has over 350K miles and has been my daily driver continuously.
If you prefer Tigers get something else , but if you can be happy with a camel, slow but dependable, this is the car to have.

I've had my 84 300D since 2002. Bought it with 221K miles on it. Its now in much better shape than it was when I bought it, mechanically speaking.

The serious cosmetic work starts early next year.

I got my '83 300D in May 2009, or roughly eight months ago. I've driven it just over 24,000 miles in that time, with most of that occuring during my cross country travels from June through September.

My 300D came to me in 1984. It has 318,000 and is driven daily.

The 300SD we bought in early 2006 and is driven daily.

No smog certification required, low insurance and registration costs.
Good mileage, tremendous endurance and engine life.

I am worried that I may end up owning this until I die.
Not worth selling, too good to throw away.

We used to say that a used Mercedes is better than a new anything.

I still believe it.

I bought/overpaid for mine Memorial Day 2007. Purchase price plus $$$ spent for repair & maintenance totals about $3000 to date. With that being said the car has always started, and has not once let me down. Not too shabby for a 26 year old car. With everything taken into account, it is the best car I have ever owned......hopefully I am still saying this next Christmas

It was quite an event for her because it was the first brand new car she ever received. Before she would drive 1-2 year old Pontiacs or Buicks. By 1985, they were empty nesters with kids out of college. Grandpa got his brand new Mercedes 450SEL in 1979, and Grandmother was stuck in a boat Pontiac until 1985. She initially wanted a Chrysler Lebaron, but thankfully my father intervened and had the sense to bring in a euro car. The VIN plate on the door says "Imported by Paul Hoover" (my father).

Next I need to scan a picture of my father in front of Grandpa's black 450SEL. It must have been a Prom, because he's wearing a blue Pastel Tuxedo posing with the benz.
